FAQS

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

No, you do not need a referral from your doctor. Under Massachusetts state law, patients have unrestricted direct access to physical therapists. You can save time and money by seeing us first for your muscular pain.

Physical therapists are now a doctoral level profession and are trained in depth how to screen for non-musculoskeletal conditions and refer to the appropriate clinician. If something comes up during your treatment that your therapist thinks is best addressed by another clinician, they will refer you.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

During you initial evaluation we'll spend time discussing your health history in-depth, your current health concerns, and what aches and pains brought you to our clinic. We'll do a comprehensive full body movement screen while focusing in on what is causing your specific pain. By the time you leave, you'll know what is causing your pain and have a plan to get you back to the activities you love.

We recommend bringing shorts and a tank top to your first appointment.

WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?

We take one-on-one personalized care seriously. During your appointments, you will have your therapist's undivided attention. In order to provide you with the best one-on-one care, we are out of network for all insurances. This allows us to provide you with the exact care you need, without restrictions placed on us from insurance companies.

Upon request we'll happily provide you documentation you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, although this does not guarantee reimbursement.

Additionally, due to opt-out laws, we cannot treat patients with Medicare or Medicaid insurance for skilled physical therapy, even if you are willing to pay cash. We are happy to see you for wellness interventions to help you maintain optimal performance.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO GO?

Every case is different. We understand you're busy and want to be back moving pain-free as soon as possible. Since we're not constrained by insurance, we'll be able to provide you with the exact care you need, instead of trying to optimize our insurance billing.

As a framework, most clients with simple cases feel significantly better in 4-6 sessions and most clients with complex cases feel significantly better in 6-12 sessions.
